33 Books Tasting Journals
33 Bars of Chocolate
(Wafers, Squares, Bits & Pieces Too…)
Designed for Speed
This chocolate journal is designed for ease of use. It’s tough to hold a notepad in one hand, a pencil in the other, and have another hand left for your bar of single-origin, 90% cacao Madagascar. Taking notes with 33 Chocolates is as simple as checking a few boxes and entering a few basic facts.
The flavor wheel in 33 Chocolates can be used to quickly recall a chocolate’s unique flavor long after consumption. For low values of the flavor, fill in dots near the wheel’s center.
Secret Ingredient
A teeny, tiny amount of drinking chocolate is added to the ink in each new edition, which is cryptically noted on the back.
Eco-Friendly
33 Chocolates and all 33 Books tasting journals are made with 100% recycled papers sourced in the Pacific Northwest. Interior pages are 100% post-consumer recycled content and covers are 85% post-consumer recycled content and 15% recycled content. The booklets are printed using US-grown soy-based inks in sunny Portland, Oregon.
33 Bottles of Wine
(Tastes, Glasses, and Flutes Too…)
The flavor wheel in 33 Wines can be used to quickly recall a wine’s unique flavor long after consumption. For low values of the flavor, fill in dots near the wheel’s center.
33 Mugs of Cider
(Bottles, Cans, Drafts & Glasses Too…)
The flavor wheel in 33 Ciders can be used to quickly recall a cider’s unique flavor long after consumption. For low values of the flavor, fill in dots near the wheel’s center.
About 33 Books Co.
33 Books Co. is Dave Selden’s one-man publishing operation based in Portland, Oregon. Dave creates books and “tasting maps” designed to help people quickly note the important details of their favorite beverages and food: chocolate, beer, coffee, wine, cheese, whiskey, and more.
The Flavor Wheel
Here’s an excerpt from 33 Books Co’s About Us page:
A unique “flavor wheel” is included on all my books and maps. It provides a quick, visual way to describe a product’s flavor (and recall it later). A simple color meter in some of my books allows you to remark on visual characteristics. Other design elements (checkboxes, silhouettes, etc.) further speed up the process.
“33” brand books are designed to be inexpensive and highly portable. They easily fit in the front or back pocket of a pair of jeans and are thinner than most mobile phones. They’re printed on 100% recycled paper using US-grown soy ink that includes a few drops of real wine, beer cheese, milk … which changes from edition to edition.
